Thank God Growing Hurts!

I have an interview at Chick-Fill-A (The Gospel Bird) today at 3:30pm. I’m very excited about being put in a position to be a witness again. I pray I will be faithful to Christ and found worthy of my calling to glorify His name.
I’ve also been burdened to say some things about growing in Chirst.

Life is all about learning.
Getting a year older just happens.
Acting a year older takes maturity.
Maturity is a painful process.
It involves winning and losing,
Loving and hating,
Pleasing and hurting,
but most of all,
It involves learning.

Learning is not always easy. In fact, the harder the lesson is to learn, the better it is remembered. A child who suffers the stinging burn that comes from reaching into the fire will thus never forget that fire is no friend to the flesh, regardless of how mesmerizing it is to the eye.

Now, what would happen if that child did not connect the pain he suffered from the fire and his act of reaching into the fire? Well, save for being thoroughly confused, that child would have no reason to avoid putting his hand right back into those hungry flames.

My friends, as totally outrageous as this hypothetical situation may be, we fall prey to it daily. Whether you believe in Satan and his demons or not, this is precisely the goal of all their manipulation:
to disconnect our sinful acts from their burning consequences, the holy wrath of God.

From the beginning, that serpent of old, Satan, has called upon man to have every form of doubt regarding the Word’s of God, spewing forth his age old line: “Did God really say…?” To which we give the classic response “Yes! Even if I TOUCH it!”

“But that sounds wise,” you may think. “We shouldn’t even touch what tempts us.” True, but we also shouldn’t attribute God with saying things He didn’t say. Adding or subtracting anything to God’s Word is wrong. Eve gave Satan a foothold by adding to what God had said.

Herein lies the importance of KNOWING God’s Words! You can rest assured that Satan knows them. So proud is that old snake of this that he twisted them against Christ, the Author himself, in the dessert, but to no avail, for Christ IS the Word. Satan comes against the Church now with the same deception.

Brothers and sisters in Christ, as Hebrews 6:1&2 says: “Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment.”

Why!? Because such is only the bedrock of a much grander and more glorious story! The depths and breadths and heights of all that Scripture is have been greatly neglected. With the foundation beneath us it is time to stand upon it and build, “And this we will do if God permits.” (Hebrews 6:3)

  1. Hi Levi and Lexie! First time reading your "Blog". I still love the old fashion way of writing in a journal...I guess because I have this paranoia about people reading my most private, personal feelings. It's also because writing is a dying art form and one day when I'm gone, someone will find my journals and write a book or make a movie about my life. HA!
Sounds like you both are focused and it warms my heart!
I love you both - Mom Linville
